Yes it's Monday. 7am The days here at last. Would the builders arrive at any moment, better get dressed quick! or maybe it would be the quite reasonable hour of 8am.
Well 7 & 8am came and went, so did 9am.
I was getting more than a little anxious. Maybe the last job had run over and they had to finish that first, I reasoned. Could have let me know though, maybe it was something more sinister. I can tell you if you don't know already, this process has not been smooth sailing. All I'm going to say is 5 years, 5 YEARS yes you did read it right. That's how long it's taken to get to this stage.
Any way the postman came (Hello Tim, not been Pete for a while) and brought some paperwork that had to be signed and returned to the builders secretary. Ah I hear my brain say - a convenient excuse to ring the office without sounding neurotic. No answer. I will try in a little while after all they might not man the office till 10am cos lets face it, who's gonna want to ring a builder at 9am in the morning.
Well 9am was long gone, still not heard owt. Davids back from the school run. Managed to get Beth out of bed. Well it was after 9.
After numerous false dashes to the kitchen window, there in all it's glory - a builder's van, not just any old builder's van. But MY builder's van. After about 10 minutes, well alright then 5 minutes, I went out to say hello, typical builder - sat in the van eating his breakfast.
Just in case you were wondering it was 9.43am when they drove round the corner.
It's happening, It's happening, It's really really happening. So sorry I just couldn't help dancing round the house. well I guess it was more a wheelie round the house - not on two wheels though, you do understand. I will not be giving demonstrations - just in case anyone asks.
Well today the plan is for a new temporary path to be put down, so we don't disturb the building work on the 'east side' of the house. The scaffolding is being put up round the front porch as I type.
